Japan moving to linode maybe?

Hi Folks,

I have been thinking about this for a while, I wanted to gather a few opinions first though?

The advantages are that all IP's will become real APNIC rather than some being ARIN, I will be able to offer more bandwidth for Japan.

The down site is that migrations is a bitch smile but I don't mind doing it.

I even considered setting up a gre tunnel between vultures and linode and keeping the old IP's active for a while too, but then again if people don't listen the first 5 times after migration they will just ask for the new IP's when I take the gre tunnel down anyway.

Thoghts?

GRE tunnel is great idea but we should stick topic with title "Japan had an IP change" for at least 30 days from the day of migration.

Just trying my best to help. ♥ |

Re: Japan moving to linode maybe?

Thanks,

Just started to wonder if there is any point in maintaining the GRE as anyone that this benefits would simply ask 30 days later anyway instead of reading the forum to begin with hehe smile

Re: Japan moving to linode maybe?

Why add costs and workload when people will ask the questions over and over again?

People are still commenting on that they can not access the Dallas node. ....

Re: Japan moving to linode maybe?

yeah haha, and if I could have done a GRE then for Dallas and I only just switched it off today they would be asking tomorrow no doubt.

Moving to Linode will save a little money, work load will spike obviously.

I actually would prefer Linode over Vultr, for it's network (better China peering, at least for Japan 1). Time to get another Japand LES smile

PS: Any ETA?

Re: Japan moving to linode maybe?

I'm going to order a few over the coming week and see which IP's I get, if it works out and I get APNIC IP's I will upgrade and set a date.

Currently don't own any LES in Asia, but I would say:
If the saved money and therefore better profitability matches / exceeds the additional work you have to put in - do it! tongue
