(GestionDBI) Can't connect to VPS through SSH

Hi,
I have been trying to connect through SSH to my VPS using the preassigned SSH port and the external NAT IP.
after I enter my root password when trying to connect it always says access denied.
I have made sure it isn't a configuration issue with the SSH server.

My internal IP is 172.16.70.31

Thanks

Login through the console and check?  If you're running Debian, a "recent" change (serveral years ago) disables root login by default.

PermitRootLogin is enabled. It seems like changing SSH configuration doesn't effect the result at all, I always just get access denied. I have even tried making and logging in with another account and I still get access denied.

Go in through the serial console and reset, then?  I had some port mapping issues earlier today, but that wasn't with Gestion.

SSH is working fine with the IP 172.16.70.31 and the default SSH port provided to you in the email information.

I can telnet into it and face a OpenSSH server listening on debian.
