Automated fuse+nfs support - enable it yourself (Inception) TRIAL

EDIT: this is now available in all Inception locations.

Hi Folks,

It is a very popular request so I have been doing some work on this today to automate it, I have actually created a simple frame work based on options files to enable modules that usually require a ticket and manual work.

Right now I have only enabled this on the Netherlands node, I would appreciate your feedback.

Instructions:

login to your VPS via SSH.

cd /
touch option.fuse

or simply:

touch /option.fuse

The host node will scan your root directory for the presence of this file every 30 minutes if it exists your container will be shutdown briefly fuse will be enabled and then your VPS will be started again.

You will know that the action has been performed once you see /fuse.enabled and /option.fuse is gone

May not be perfect right away but if we can get this ironed out starting with the Netherlands I will spread this to all nodes and add more options.

Cheers.

Ant

Re: Automated fuse+nfs support - enable it yourself (Inception) TRIAL

nice one.

the last problem was that I needed to add a 60 second delay to give the container a chance to shutdown before enabling fuse.

Will give it a week, if no issues I will roll it out to all locations.

Yep I can do that no problem, just read the docs, it would be even more simple than fuse.

Consider it added to the list, I guess for you guys it will just be 'touch /option.nfs' i will work on that over the weekend if I get time.

Re: Automated fuse+nfs support - enable it yourself (Inception) TRIAL

Wow, that sounds great! smile
And I guess the way you are doing it right now should be fine for this type of servers.
Only make sure you are also setting up an auto-respond for tickets containing "FUSE"^^

Thanks a bunch! Should this work on Mininode1b already? I created a file 90 minutes ago, but nothing has happened yet.
