[GestionDBI] Debian 8 "Jessie" x86

Hi,

Please could you consider supporting Debian Jessie 32 bit? The reduced memory consumption vs 64 bit would really help :-)

TIA,

Ben

Re: [GestionDBI] Debian 8 "Jessie" x86

Haven't had a chance to try this yet but given https://wiki.debian.org/OpenVz stating "Upgrading an OpenVZ container on the 2.6.* kernel should work fine up to Wheezy, but you must not upgrade to Jessie unless you take steps to prevent systemd from being used as the new init system." installing Wheezy 32bit and upgrading to Devuan Jessie (https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgra … -to-Devuan) might be worth a try as it's basically Debian without systemd.

If you have an inception hosting account put a ticket in I will give you one to test it on.

Nope, sorry, the possibility of being called during signup did'nt seem to mix that good with my habit of giving out a number that's technically mine but has no phone connected wink Guess i'll have to rethink if i can make an exception sometime soon though. NL location has always been very tempting. Also thanks for the offer - much appreciated even if i can't take it smile

I'd be happy to try this, but it seems that I only have a 128MB/1G host with Ant, so..

Ant- if you wanna give me a sacrificial shell with slightly more resources, I'll give it a go.  big_smile

Re: [GestionDBI] Debian 8 "Jessie" x86

I've upgraded 7 to 8 and it works fine.  You just have to use a systemd shim.  Here's the irc blurb:

<dpkg> To use an init system other than systemd in jessie, install the systemd-shim package (for logind) and remove the systemd-sysv package: aptitude install systemd-shim sysvinit-core systemd-sysv-.  To stick with sysvinit for wheezy->jessie upgrades, follow the pinning advice in the release notes: http://deb.li/30Kby - See also <upstart> and <openrc>
