Support ecryptfs

ecryptfs [1] allows files/folder-based encryption, i.e. home directory. While ecryptfs-utils run in user space, the ecryptfs module needs to be loaded into the kernel. As this cannot be done inside the OpenVZ container, it is currently not possible to use this feature.

However, this would be a great feature to enhance customer privacy.

Re: Support ecryptfs

All I can find info wise are a lot of posts saying it does not work and bug reports marked invalid: wont fix

Have you used this with other OpenVZ hosts?

Re: Support ecryptfs

Hi,

I havn't tried ecryptfs within OpenVZ so far. I also found some posts about issues, an alternative would be encfs which needs fuse - this should work with openvz: http://wiki.openvz.org/FUSE.

regards, emilio

Re: Support ecryptfs

Fuse works but it needs to be done on a per container basis and I do not have the capacity to support that right now on LES, I am working with Virtualizor to migrate the LES service to them when that happens fuse will be available to set on/off yourself.

I am eagerly waiting for this.

Re: Support ecryptfs

The configuration files need to be rewritten to support this.  This is a really old feature request but nobody has implemented it yet.

If its not I'm sure the provider could enable it for you.
