Which location do you want to see the most?

I just thought I'd throw out a little thread. Which location would you like to see the most next?

-Hawaii
-Greenland
-Island
-Madagasikara

Re: Which location do you want to see the most?

Sweden is more expensive then the well dressed saturday hooker that you bring home to your mother and call "girlfriend".
not to mention that most of the places where one could afford to colo a dedi or rent one aren't ipv6 ready yet.

To get ipv6 you have to go with the more expensive ones and BOOOM! you are out of range for a LES location.

True story smile

Re: Which location do you want to see the most?

I blame the free market. Not enough competitors when it comes to datacenters or companys willing to colo in their racks.

We got plenty of consultants in all the strange areas but hardware, not that much.

Brazil

India
South Africa
Somewhere in the middle east (Israel is maybe the most plausible )

Unfortunately, HKG is over expensive and difficult to maintain: DDoS attack no stop, GFWC recurring issue, low BW for external people, congested link, etc.

So I highly doubt it will re-open soon.

Re: Which location do you want to see the most?

As some people have said above a location in South America would be interesting, not to say that I was also interested in the HKG location.
I guess dreaming is free.

I believe Oliver is moving into Asia more and more with mainline services so we could well see a resurgence smile

Re: Which location do you want to see the most?

If I had a choice, it'd be somewhere in Asia for sure.
Korea sounds amazing, but it's not too realistic and it's sorta well served with the existing Japanese location.
Therefore, I would vouch for Hong Kong or Singapore, but preferably HKG. It used to be pretty awesome, the connection to China Mobile was really smooth, although I wouldn't rely on it due to NAT+GFW.

You'll never see Korea Lowend-something, even Cloudflare couldn't take tarffic cost and disabled its edge in it except for enterprise plan.

I want to visit Asia, I actually I did got the chance to explore Singapore, Hongkong, and Macau.
This year I will be going back to Hongkong with my cousin, then I will also go visit Thailand and Malaysia. I hope to see Japan and Seoul, South Korea in the future.

That's a nice plan for a vacation- but we're talking about LES VPS.  smile

We already have Italy (Inception) and France (MrVM).  We had Sweden for a while (Nanovz/Virtwire) but the host imploded.  I suspect the location itself also had sustainability problems.  The other suggested locations are of course interesting.

I like the glamour of exotic locations as much as the next person but after having had a few of them, I found I barely used them.  I'm more interested in interesting features and configurations.  The feature that helps these tiny servers more than anything else is SSD storage.  So I'd rather see more SSD-based LES even if the storage allocation is smaller.  SSD in dedicated servers (e.g. Hetzner EX series and SSD auction servers and even their cloud servers) has gotten a lot more affordable so I think this is easier to do at LES prices now.  I can live with a 1GB disk allocation if that's what it takes.

Note: Hetzner's lowest $/GB SSD cloud server is the 16GB model with 4 cores and 160GB SSD at 15.9 euro/month exvat.  So that could be split into 128 servers of 128MB ram, 1.2GB SSD at about 1.5 euro/year per server, so with a bit of overhead added I think it could still be sold sustainably at LES price levels.  1GB SSD is usable but cramped enough that 1.2GB is a significant improvement.

Re: Which location do you want to see the most?

I’ve added both Sydney and Perth with the help from RansomIT.

Being Swedish, I would love to serve a Swedish location as I suspect it will be interesting for many people.
A main issue with Swedish is that there is no ”cheap” company that rents hardware for peanuts line Hetzner, Nocix, Dacentec.

The only way to go is own hardware and colo. I am working on that but it goes slow with a $4/year service smile

Wow, didn't know a new location is up. Will there be some announcement?
Also, is IPv6 supported in this location? Asking this because I didn't see IPv6 on randomit's looking glass. http://perth-lg.ransomit.com.au/
