[mrVM] Sofia, IPv6 connection

Hi,
I'm having no IPv6 connectivity on my VPS in Sofia (172.16.20.106) for about 8 hours.

Outgoing ping:

[[email protected] ~]# ping6 google.com
PING google.com(lm-in-x8a.1e100.net) 56 data bytes
From 2a01:8740:1:fe00:: icmp_seq=1 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited
From 2a01:8740:1:fe00:: icmp_seq=2 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited
From 2a01:8740:1:fe00:: icmp_seq=3 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited
From 2a01:8740:1:fe00:: icmp_seq=4 Destination unreachable: Administratively prohibited
^C
--- google.com ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 received, +4 errors, 100% packet loss, time 3497ms

Anyone else facing the same issue?

Re: [mrVM] Sofia, IPv6 connection

That's just an ICMP issue, TCP and UDP is likely working fine.

No, it doesn't. SSH for example comes back with "Permission denied" immediately.

Re: [mrVM] Sofia, IPv6 connection

Well, permission denied is a response from the server not the client so that actually confirms TCP is working.

If TCP was not working what you would get is "Connection Timed Out", it is more likely you have not configures your sshd to accept ip6

Re: [mrVM] Sofia, IPv6 connection

[[email protected] ~]# curl -6 google.com
curl: (7) couldn't connect to host
[[email protected] ~]# mtr -6 --report --report-wide google.com
HOST: vps117.brueggus.de Loss% Snt Last Avg Best Wrst StDev

I don't know what else I could test so you believe me that there's an issue.

it is more likely you have not configures your sshd to accept ip6

[[email protected] ~]# netstat -nlp | grep sshd
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 586/sshd
tcp        0      0 :::22                       :::*                        LISTEN      586/sshd

Re: [mrVM] Sofia, IPv6 connection

Yep, I have no doubt there is an issue, I was simply suggesting its only impacting ICMP based on the limited info provided.

I have pinged mikho.

Are you hitting port 22 over ipv6 ssh or are you using the redirected ipv4 port in error?

I'm using IPv6 + port 22.

To me it looks like the ip6tables rules on the host got lost so traffic is no longer forwarded between the VMs and the world outside.

Re: [mrVM] Sofia, IPv6 connection

This should be resolved now.

Been busy all day, educating myself about X-ray systems smile

Sorry for the delay. A human mistake blocked all ipv6 traffic after a patch was applied.
