4in6 tunnels in Japan

Hello,
I'm trying to accomplish doing 4in6 (IPv4 encapsulated inside IPv6) tunnel on Japan node (172.16.2.x), however upon ipip6 tunnel creation I'm receiving the following error

[email protected]:~# ip -f inet6 tunnel add grevpsse mode ipip6 remote 2a00:xxxx local 2001:yyyy
add tunnel ip6tnl0 failed: No such device

After a quick search it appears that the following modules are missing in the host kernel

sudo modprobe tunnel6
sudo modprobe xfrm6_tunnel
sudo modprobe ip6_tunnel

I was wondering, is it possible to enable the aforementioned modules in the host node?
How have others worked around this limitation?

I presume one course of action, to work around this limitation would be to set up OpenVPN as point to point tunnel. Has anyone done this before on LES and had any issues?

Re: 4in6 tunnels in Japan

Thanks, the modules appear to be working as expected!
However, during the setup I noticed an issue when adding an interface to /etc/network/interfaces.tail (as indicated by /etc/network/interfaces). The issue caused a loss of IPv6 address for the VM. After adding the respective vtun0 IPv6 block to /etc/network/interfaces.head the issue was resolved.
I've noticed this issue in another OpenVZ hosting company and resolved it in a similar manner.
Let me know if you are interested diving deeper into this issue - I will provide exact steps to reproduce the issue.

Re: 4in6 tunnels in Japan

That is an OpenVZ specific issue really, there is very little I could do to resolve that except suggest the same work around you already know smile
