Top, free and htop showing different memory usage.

This is a first one for me, currently I'm running the Debian 7 32bit minimal template.

When I use top and free -m they show about the same memory usage. If I use htop, I get a very low value of used memory.

top: 15944 used
free -m: 15 used (3 MB buffers/cache)
htop: 4 MB

I already updated debian to the latest packages and rebooted the vps a couple of times, and I still get the same difference in values.

Wich one it's the mos correct?

Re: Top, free and htop showing different memory usage.

htop shows memory actually in use i.e. not including buffers and cache which will be around about the same as the second output line in free -m, top shows everything including buffers/cache so will be the same as the first output line of free-m

They are all correct, it is actually all different information smile

Re: Top, free and htop showing different memory usage.

It's the first time I see such a big difference, I have used if before on other OpenVz host's and this was making me think if I screw up somewhere.
