How do I open port 3000 on my VPS?

Just recently created a VPS and have searched the forums, but am still in doubt as to how I can open port 3000 on my VPS. Any suggestions appreciated.

It is a NAT VPS. How do I go about configuring the VPS to accept port 3000 using IPv6.?

You instruct the service/software package to listen on port 3000 on IPv6, as every single bit of software is different you will need to consult the support of the vendor/author to ask how.

Not sure that I quite follow..the VPS has been assigned a range of 20 ports for forwarding through the NAT.
Can’t these be configured to channel the port?

Re: How do I open port 3000 on my VPS?

sure, you could go about it that way, you could setup an iptables rule to redirect traffic on one of your assigned ports to 3000.

The issue is you dont get to pick your ports that are open externally, these are fixed based on your local IP.

Thanks. That explains it to some extent. If I’ve understood it correctly then..the 20 ports that I have been assigned are all “open” to my VPS in the sense that I can redirect them via iptables using IPv6.

This is also commented on in an earlier post here:
