Volunteers wanted - FREE UPGRADE

I am looking for 5 volunteers that already have active service in the Netherlands to be migrated to VZ7 (currently you are on VZ6)

This will give you a 3.x kernel and I will also be gradually upgrading your ram from 128mb potentially up to 256mb.

The conditions are:

1. you already have active LES service in the Netherlands.

2. you understand that this will involve migration and multiple reboots without notice for an undefined period of time (obviously it will be avoided when possible)

3. you understand it may be a disaster that will take a bit of time to sort out and your data is at risk.

4. you actively use your current service and can provide a snapshot of your current avg ram use

I need to fine tune the requirements for LES on VZ7 the volunteers will get to keep any higher end upgrades applied as part of the fine tuning, essentially you will end up with more resources than you had and more than what ever the base package for VZ7 ends up becoming.

Re: Volunteers wanted - FREE UPGRADE

I guess getting an additional NL one just now won't qualify for testing out OVZ7? tongue

Sure I don't see why not as long as you meet the rest of the conditions ok.

Well then: I just got myself another LES box! tongue It should be order number "3344431826" if you need it for reference.
I am OK with instabilities in this case, as I got other boxes to do the "work".

As for the RAM usage you were asking for, this is what the one in US looked the last year:
m4guvg3.png

Had some boxes in NL (OVZ6 and KVM) before, but they are no longer active.
The box in the UK is currently used for random testing and seeing how far the limits of such a small VPS can be pushed. I do, however, not have any longtime RAM usage statistics for this one.
Can give you a current snapshot though:

[email protected]:~/ps_mem# ./ps_mem.py
Private + Shared = RAM used Program

176.0 KiB + 51.0 KiB = 227.0 KiB vnstatd
280.0 KiB + 36.0 KiB = 316.0 KiB agetty (2)
296.0 KiB + 45.5 KiB = 341.5 KiB cron
436.0 KiB + 43.5 KiB = 479.5 KiB systemd-udevd
428.0 KiB + 60.0 KiB = 488.0 KiB su
576.0 KiB + 60.5 KiB = 636.5 KiB sudo
768.0 KiB + 56.5 KiB = 824.5 KiB dbus-daemon
700.0 KiB + 131.5 KiB = 831.5 KiB systemd-logind
  1.5 MiB + 60.5 KiB = 1.6 MiB rsyslogd
  1.6 MiB + 79.0 KiB = 1.7 MiB bash (2)
  1.7 MiB + 167.0 KiB = 1.9 MiB systemd-journald
  1.3 MiB + 1.1 MiB = 2.4 MiB sshd (3)
  2.9 MiB + 1.2 MiB = 4.1 MiB systemd (3)
  4.3 MiB + 5.0 KiB = 4.3 MiB caddy
 21.1 MiB + 14.9 MiB = 36.0 MiB php-fpm7.2 (4)

Re: Volunteers wanted - FREE UPGRADE

Just found out, that 128MB of RAM are not enough to run apt-show-versions, even with more than 100MB free.
So looking forward for a possible RAM upgrade, that might come with VZ7. tongue
If this might indeed happend, I am hoping to be able to play around with ajenti a bit.

Re: Volunteers wanted - FREE UPGRADE

I'm also interested.
I'm using my vps mostly for private, proxy/vpn (tinc-mesh-vpn), or running some scripts or connectivity test from outside my own network, with in average relatively low ram usage.
Based on the statistics from the control panel, my average ram usage seems to be pretty low, sometimes have to boot my NL vps via control panel, as it seems to be shutdown, so the statistics sadly have some gaps.

As everything is used for private and not critical, as well as I've regular backups of my data and config, I've no problems with your points 2. and 3.

Reference ram usage of my NL vps:
3067-mem-d0e144f6106agnjjd.png

If VZ7 is running well, I will probably moving some services from my IT vps, as it is currently using nearly the full 128mb in average.

You can use my VPS in NL. I use it for dn42 network experiments.
